Valentine Plant and tamales

Mom and dad came for a visit.

Mom gave me a valentine plant, its a joya and the leaves are shaped like a heart

We made tamales. Dad spent over an hour mixing the “masa” ie; corn dough

Mom spread the masa onto corn husks and I layered the meat filling and an olive.

Even the olives were home canned. Then mom made fresh salsa. and we ate. and ate.

Then I put the remaining six dozen in the refrigerator, for another day.

Thanks Mom and Dad.

Oh, you have a sweetheart hoya-a wonderfully easy plant that will take off and grow like crazy! I had one that grew through my lace curtains:) Love the hearts, I remember them from last year, and I still love them! So how are you? It’s been awhile since we’ve chatted-hope all is well.

How on earth did I miss this posting!! Love tamales! When we spend the holidays with my family, the women get together and make tamales. Labor intensive, but so worth it!!
