Stinkin Lights

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I did list new ornies on and will start another batch tomorrow for those readers who are watching.

Went to target today to get lights for the tree and two strings don’t work right out of the box, grrrrr I despise having to return things. Bought two jingle bell collars for my two pugs and one of them doesnt fit, have to return that 🙁  Pugs have fat necks. Squishy, fat, kissable necks!

It was a sweltering 107 yesterday in my neighborhood, today will go down to two digits.

I spent Fri and Sat with friends in the bay area (where I lived for many years), reconnecting, relaxing and vowing to not let so much time pass without being together. Coincidentally we are reading the same book, The Power of Now by Eckhardt Tolle,  I have an intense desire to believe in something more than what my eyes can see. While I was raised Catholic, I have long since lost faith in its teachings.

I also met with a friend of my brother’s who had not been able to attend the funeral, two and a half hours passed in minutes, she and her husband cared so much, this meeting brought me great joy.

On the way home, early evening, I put the top down on my convertible car, allowing the warm wind to hit my face as I sped through long stretches of interstate 5, and I wept openly for what was and what wasn’t, while the hills surrounding listened and the vast stretch of sky consoled me.

Today, I have the strong urge to get things back on track and get life closer to "normal".

Ideas are beckoning beckoning beckoning me and I have to get back to work.

I appreciate my many blessings, my home, my hub, my family and friends, my pugs, the air to breathe, art that will be made, and my heart that thinks.

Peace and creativity …

Life in southern Cali

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

Its delightfully overcast this morning. The overbearing heat in sunny southern Cali does not make for a lot of energy. Best to get some yard work done early and my neighbors apparently think so as well judging by the continuous hacking or axing of something.  I think I really need an expanse of land surrounding our home so I can’t hear the neighbor’s noises and well they probably think that about us too since the pugs diligently yak at every squirrel or lizard rustling the bushes.

Three Hands are Better than One

I created a homemade bird bath by by turning a large pot upside down and placing a somewhat deep dish with water on top of it and within a couple of hours the feathered ones discovered it. I enjoy watching them bathe especially when its so hot.

One of my favorite paintings sold from the show in Michigan which I mentioned here a few weeks ago. Its great to have sales and know that work is gracing somebody’s walls but when its a favorite piece its also bitter sweet. I create so much art though that I really can’t even keep some of my favorites and well naturally its the favorites that always sell the fastest.
